No limit except your imagination.

Not one of QUEEN’s  best, not up there with ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, but surely a great title for what will be a truly epic Madcat event to be held over three and a half days of the Melbourne Cup weekend.  This ride will start from a location somewhere NE of Melb ( location and time to be confirmed), and will wend its way through roads and tracks that will lead us to our home base for the next three nights, Merrijig Lodge, nestled alongside the Delatite River at the foot of Mount Buller. This is a farmstay that has up to 42 beds, six bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, entertainment area, barbecue area, a pool, plenty of parking space, and a superhost to look after our every need. The piece-de-resistance….a pub a stones throw away. Merrijig is 15 minutes from Mansfield and is the gateway to a dizzying array of roads and tracks that take in the King Valley, Mt Stirling, Mt Buller, the Howqua valley, and much much more. Rides will be developed to cater for everyone, from two-wheel-drive dirt roads to much more challenging tracks if that’s your schtick. Three days of all-out off road adventure, with a great home base and the need to ride a loaded bike only for the journey there and back. All rides, whether full or half day, will end up back at the Lodge. Food has not been worked out yet (more info later), but will be a combination of pub meals and some use of the excellent kitchen facilities of our castle, especially Breakfast, and some lunch materials. There will be an added fee for any food the Club purchases, to be divided between participants. I have not enquired yet, but it is unlikely camping on-site will be permitted. BED LINEN IS PROVIDED BUT YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN TOWEL.

I have been in contact with Neil, our host, and the facility cannot accommodate more than 30 people, so that is the limit.

Cost is $185 pp, based on a minimum of 16 riders. More riders may lower the cost, but this has not yet been confirmed.

This will be a Disneyland for off-roaders, and after three and a half days of riding, your skills and confidence will be smashing through the glass ceiling.

More info to come…..
