Despite a promising forecast earlier in the week, Friday night’s weather update predicted rain and cold—causing our original group of 17 eager adventurers to dwindle to a hardcore 9. Undeterred, the remaining crew set off into the drizzle, spirits high and radios crackling.

 First Incident – Robbo Down!

We hadn’t even made it past the first pickup point at Yarra Junction before disaster struck—Robbo picked up a rogue piece of metal in his brand-new tyre.

With no sign of the RACV, Robbo made the call to his now well-rehearsed personal rescue crew. (Getting a bit regular this, Robbo?)

Down to 8 – Onward to Adventure!

The rest of us pushed on toward Gladysdale until a call came over the radio:

“Rosie, you better come back—we need some help.”
Our sweep, Senior Meals Morieson, had spoken. Neil had taken an unplanned sharp right turn and ended up needing a tow from some friendly passersby.

With everyone back on track, we made our way through the winding roads and into Gembrook for a quick caffeine recharge.

 Forest Roads & Final Stop

Re-energised, we cruised along the forest trails, winding our way through the scenic Dandenongs. Our final destination: a well-earned lunch and cold beer at the Mount Dandenong Hotel.
